From Seed to Harvest: Understanding the Cannabis Growth Cycle

Every cannabis plant begins small, but producing a healthy, high-quality flower requires careful attention throughout every stage of its life. From early vegetative growth through

flowering and harvest, the environment surrounding the plant plays an important role in how it develops.

At BADSEED, cultivation is about understanding those stages and creating the right conditions for the plant throughout its growth cycle.

Vegetative Growth

The vegetative stage is when the plant develops much of the structure that will support it later in life. Roots expand, stems strengthen, and new leaves and branches form as the plant grows.

During this stage, cultivators closely manage factors such as lighting, temperature, humidity, airflow, irrigation, and plant nutrition.

A strong vegetative period helps establish a healthy foundation before the plant begins producing flowers.

Flowering

The flowering stage is when the cannabis plant shifts its energy toward developing buds.

As flowering progresses, the plant begins producing the structures and compounds associated with mature cannabis flower. Cannabinoids and aromatic compounds known as

terpenes develop alongside the flower and contribute to the characteristics of the finished plant.

Environmental consistency becomes particularly important during this period. Light, temperature, humidity, airflow, nutrition, and irrigation must be carefully managed as the flowers mature.

Harvest

Determining when a cannabis plant is ready for harvest requires more than simply counting days. Cultivators observe the plant's development and maturity to determine the appropriate harvest window. Genetics, growing conditions, and the individual cultivar can all affect how quickly a plant reaches maturity.

Once harvested, the flower moves into post-harvest handling, where drying and curing can influence its final aroma, appearance, consistency, and overall characteristics.

Cultivation Is a Process

High-quality cannabis doesn't come from one individual step. It is the result of decisions made throughout the plant's entire life cycle.

Genetics provide the starting point, while the cultivation environment influences how those genetics are expressed. Maintaining consistent conditions and paying attention to the plant at every stage allows cultivators to produce more predictable results from one harvest to the next.

At BADSEED CULTIVATION, our approach is centered on controlled environments, careful cultivation, and attention to the details that matter throughout the plant's growth cycle.
